thank you for visiting. bienvenides. ようこそ。 i'm looking forward to getting to know you, too. i go by jiyu and use they/she pronouns. i work with folks in california as a therapist and other parts of the world as a life coach/spiritual practitioner. |
i am a queer, migrant, japanese american born in osaka, japan and raised in new jersey, southern california and the bay area on turtle island. my work experience prior to entering academia and becoming a therapist is comprised of a wide range of service work-- from waiting tables, working in warehouses, food delivery, simple bartending, admin work; to teaching dance; to teaching english in the u.s., japan and costa rica; to buddhist leadership, counseling and curriculum development; to translating and interpreting on a japanese cruise ship traversing the global south.
life has given me many opportunities to experience and engage with folks of a multitude of socio-political and cultural backgrounds, as well as the ability to speak english, japanese and spanish. my myriad background is woven by my desire to understand this world and its people, including myself. to heal, transform, and embody liberatory paradigms together. i enjoy singing, dancing, writing, creating rituals and art of all kinds. i am presently on a journey of remembering and cultivating ancestral lifeways and expanding my sense of home across the panpacific, blurring nationstate borders.
